Greenlandair DC6B Original By Tom Gibson and Harry Follas.
OY-DRM 'Sululik' Repainted by Gerry McLaughlin

The only time I ever saw a Greenlandair DC6 was on a day trip round a few of the less busy airports of South East England in August 1983. It was parked rather forlornly on the grass at Manston in Kent. The colours were very faded, it was dirty and oily, and the titles and name had been removed. Even like that, however, it was obvious it had been a beauty in its day!
As I remember it, for a 'planespotter' (not a word I would care to use then or now to describe me!) it was quite a day. Parked next to the DC6 was a Swaziland registered C119,
and I see from the photo I took that there was a Britannia (ex Invicta or someone like that) parked a hundred or so metres away. A few hours later, at Southend, I photographed a Jamahiryan Air Transport CL44, another Britannia and a Guatemalan HP Herald. I finished off the day with a visit to Stansted, which produced an Instone Bristol freighter and an Egyptian Air Force Viscount. All quite easily photographed out on the ramp. Happy days indeed!
I dont know if this aircraft really is a DC6B. It certainly has the crew door of a DC6B, but it also has cargo doors - perhaps it was a conversion. Ian Mackintosh's 'Douglas DC6 Pictorial and Production' (probably long out of print) is pretty certain that its a DC6B. If you have lots of virtual cargo to carry, just hope that it has a strengthened virtual floor!

Thanks to Tom Gibson and Harry Follas who made the moving-parts DC6B which is the basis of this repainted aircraft, and for letting me do it. I still retain parts of Tom's paintwork and of course Harry's very clever metal textures which add so much to the realism. The original Western Airlines aircraft is great, and I still fly it too.
So many great aircraft..so little hard disk space!
I'd also like to thank all the other people who contribute so much to the FS community, making models, recording sounds, designing panels; all those things I'd love to be able to do, but can't.

Now read the FS98 DC-6B CLOUDMASTER Text, for all the information about this aircraft, and how to install it. Also, read that legal stuff!

Enjoy!
